Drone operations
Alan holds an A2 Certificate of Competency, with a stated expiry of 19 May 2029. The operating category, permissions and aircraft suitability are checked separately for each flight.
Alan’s operational experience includes planning thermal drone inspections of solar PV installations. His documented site role is Drone Operator, with responsibility for the flight plan, crew briefing and the decision whether conditions are suitable to fly.
Ground support & solar project planning
Robin’s documented site role includes Safety Spotter / Observer, supporting the pilot with awareness of people, aircraft and site hazards. His solar project work also includes using survey photogrammetry to revise proposed panel layouts.
Flight operations, data processing and technical interpretation are different tasks. Tell us whether you need an image record, a processed model or specialist advice so the scope and responsibility for each output can be agreed.
Thermal imagery can highlight patterns for investigation; suspected electrical faults need assessment by a competent electrician. Roof imagery is not a structural engineer’s report.
Ask for the pilot competency, operating permissions and insurance evidence relevant to your proposed flight. These depend on the aircraft, location and operating category.
